Sometimes you just park in an established little lot and there where you walk into a wounded forest, a zigzag or serpentine row of stones (a little left of center) is just waiting for you to follow...
At home later, you find an aerial image of the site and say: Oh, wow...

Excellent find Tim, that one boulder looks like a face to me, and the tree growing up through the row indicates a minimum age. However... if there are any right angles in those rows, then... like Roseanne Roseannadanna said, "nevermind". :~)

If I hadn't already seen the rows of stones, I'd assume that this was a brook or something. I know of numerous Indigenous rows of stone that make nice right angles, so that's an assumption I don't make. I've been thinking about designs on local Late Woodland pottery that resemble the stacking on stone rows, especially rhomboids and zigzags...
